F1 Dutch Grand Prix LIVE RESULTS:Max Verstappen WINS home GP to go back to top of championship, Hamilton second

Mercedes will warn Valtteri Bottas after he broke team orders – almost costing Lewis Hamilton a point during Max Verstappen’s dominant win at his home GP.

Red Bull’s Verstappen reclaimed the Championship lead from reigning champ Hamilton by three points after 65,000 Dutch fans saw him lead all the way.

Hamilton’s team-mate Bottas was third, ahead of Pierre Gasly’s impressive fourth place for Alpha Tauri and Ferrari’s Charles Leclerc in fifth.

Britain’s seven-time F1 king Hamilton admitted over his radio Verstappen was “just too fast today”.

But Merc chiefs will speak to Bottas after he changed his tyres two laps from home and ignored instructions NOT to set the fastest lap.

That left the team pitting Hamilton for the final lap so he could produce a new fastest mark and gain the extra point.

Mercedes boss Toto Wolff said: “It was a bit cheeky, but understandable.

“It could have ended up in the loss of a point for Lewis and it would also have also been not right because he had the fastest lap until then.

“We are going to talk about it but in a most amicable and professional way.”

Bottas insisted he was “just playing around” while Hamilton shrugged it off, claiming he had not realised what the Finn did.

Meanwhile, Red Bull chief Christian Horner hailed Verstappen’s concentration amid racusous support.

Horner said: “He was focused on his own job, gone about his business in the same way as at other races and he almost seemed oblivious to what was happening on the other side of the fence, with the mayhem and partying that was ensuing.

“The noise on the grid – I’ve never heard anything like it.”
